  • Dee Buzzenfits has always had an affinity for honey and anything made from the waxy cells of the beehive - even though she is VERY allergic to bee stings. Early painful experiences while working in her family apiary didn't discourage Dee from pursuing her waxy dream. Even the rest of her family were highly skeptical of anything productive coming from her plans. Nevertheless, with determined patience (and an ever present stash of EpiPens), Dee has set standards for Beeswax product production. From candles to lip balm, furniture polish to salve, Dee's cottage industry can supply you with many great household products from the bees. Included in the kit are precision laser cut parts, including peel-and-stick backed windows for easy assembly, precision 3D resin details, easy to assemble tab-and-slot construction, high resolution graphics and detailed step-by-step instructions. The finished structure footprint measures approximately 3.25" by 2.25". The pictured model was assembled and painted by Raul Perez.
    • Building Dee's Bees Was Awesome
Showcase Miniatures created a high-quality and detailed kit that’s fun to build. There’s obviously a lot going on at Dee’s. All pieces fit perfectly without trimming, and the instructions and diagrams were easy to follow. The rusted tin roof was fun and adds interest but would also look good painted silver because of the high-quality embossed material supplied (I painted the roof completely silver before weathering). That said, it’s still an N Scale kit, and I don’t recommend drinking too much coffee before attempting to assemble the rooftop walkway. Yes, I imitated Raul Perez's incredible work.

    • I have purchased six more Showcase Miniature kits because I liked this one so much
      1. The packaging is excellent and creative in the plastic folded boxes.
      2. The directions are isometric 3-D images. These are the best instructions of any kits I have built. Walter has replaced the usual text directions with an annotated path through 3-D exploded images which show exactly how the parts fit. For my PPVRR, I have built kits from 15 different suppliers. I think the creative way Showcase Miniatures designs the directions is the best of them all. The parts sheets are clearly labelled and numbered to correspond to the exploded 3-D drawings.
      3. The parts are precision laser cut. Flawlessly. The tabs fit together with no trimming.
      4. The materials are creative. This kit has fiberboard that mimics plaster walls as well as brick. Showcase Miniatures is the only kit builder that uses this for both walls and foundations with sidewalks, to my knowledge. The windows are easily assembled with their adhesive backing. They fit all the time! Why paint them. They look like hardwood anyway.
      5. This structure is complex and unique. There are no other kits like it. The detail is stunning. If the kit was not so well designed with a CAD system, it would not look half as good as it does.
      6. I have not put signage on my kit yet. I am looking for a proprietor that knows how to service rolling stock and engines that will do justice to this centerpiece structure.
      7. I used Aileen's tacky glue on the entire model. No CA. I use transparent wash on the siding and weathering chalks on the rest of the structure. I relief painted the bricks.

Overall, Walter's virtuosi command of CAD and laser printing puts everything Showcase Miniatures does form packaging to small parts cutting in the top of the field of N-scale kits. Keep them coming.
