THE DESERT CAFÉ on ROUTE 66 - It was simply two lanes of concrete and blacktop connecting the Midwest and the West Coast but it became a cultural icon. Nothing brings back nostalgic All-American emotions of days gone by like the historic Route 66. Gas Stations, Motels and Eating Joints both utilitarian and whimsical competed for highway traveler’s attention and much needed dollars not realizing that they would create a legacy that would far outlive most of them.
