  • This kit contains a body, a chassis, separate wheels, a decal and a vacu-formed windshield to be attached to the outside of the cab after assembled and painted. See the parts picture for what's included. How we did it: The cab body was primed with Tamiya White surface primer. Since we were going to paint the cab yellow (which is little harder color to work with), we made sure the body was completely covered with primer. Next, we painted the body with Tamiya PS-19 (Camel Yellow) from the spray can again making sure the coverage was complete. Not putting the spray layers on too thickly but dusting any areas that might have been missed initially. Once dry, the body was sprayed with Dullcote and, allowing the Dulcote to dry completely, we painted the grille and details silver (and "TAXI" placard white). Once this was dry, we sprayed the body with a high gloss sealer (this was Testors Spray Gloss) and when this coat dried, we applied the decals and used a thinned Vallejo Black Wash acrylic (one part Black Wash and 4 parts Thinner) to paint the grille, door frames and edges of the silver details. For best results add a bit of liquid soap to this mixture to get the thinned wash to flow properly. Once the decals were applied and the wash was dry, we used a black dry pastel powder applied with a fine brush along the bottom of the body (where the New York grime will be). Finally, we sprayed the body with Dulcote. A high Gloss finish does not really represent well in this scale. A semi-gloss finish would also work with newer (or recently cleaned) cars.
