  • No, these aren't real power poles, but they look like it! This is our HO Scale Power Pole Set. The kit includes 5 natural poles that come already painted depicting weather-stained, pressure treated wood. The cross beams and transformer are cast in metal, also "just like the prototype". The poles have a sharp point on the end making them easier to push into your scenery.

Use Duro Brand CA glue for attaching the beams and transformer.---(5 poles, 1 large transformer, 5 cross beams)---

In a small town poles are placed at property corners to serve houses so this could be 100 ft. or so. But if you are in a rural area, distribution poles are placed 250 - 350 ft. apart.

Clean the metal parts with rubbing alcohol and let dry before assembling.
When dry, spray paint the metal pieces with Tamiya gray primer. We recommend Tamiya gray primer because it is the proper shade of gray.
Drill a hole in the pole where you want the transformer glued on. The transformer has a pin on the back that can be inserted into the drilled hole to help hold in place while glueing.
Glue on the cross beam and transformer with super glue.
You can dust on black pastel chalk for weathering at each attachment point of the parts when finished. This will give some depth and forced shadow to the finished model.

A word about our Power Pole Kits: A 30 Ft. HO Scaled pole would be 4.1 inches in height. A 40 Ft. pole would be 5.5 inches. These poles are sharpened on the base and are slightly taller than these dimensions to allow for pole insertion into your scenery.

For pole spacing: Within a U.S. urban landscape, utility poles tend to be spaced 125 feet apart (17" in HO Scale). In rural areas, utility poles are spaced as much as 300 feet apart (41" in HO Scale). Many factors affect the spacing of the poles. In areas of rough terrain, poles may be spaced either significantly closer to each other or significantly further from each other in order to minimize the chance of damage to the pole.

    • Very nice products and excellent service
Fine details, excellent product. I’m very picky about realism and making sure things are to scale. This is as close as it gets. I’m a regular customer.
