    • New life for an old kit.
The Showcase Mack B fire truck is an adaptation of their International pumper kit available since the 1990's. The body and chassis have been adapted slightly to fit the B cab. Most parts are now made of resin or directly 3d printed. This should ensure kit availablility as these cab be made on demand, rather than requiring batch processing as is needed for pewter casting.

The model parts fit well and the model cab be built and painted in about an hour. The footboards needed some sanding on my sample. Wheels and other detail parts are still made in pewter.

Because these models use the same basic modular builing as all other Showcase kits, I was able to convert my model to a GMC Brigadier. All that was needed was a cab and front bumper I had in my parts bin. Many rural and local fire departments would "re-chassis" their existing equipment on a new comercial cab and chassis when older parts wore out. Trucks like these could be found all over the US untill after Homeland Security funding flushed much of the old apparatus out of the market in the early 2000's.
